Soror of the year: ALNITA MORAE CROSS

 

Soror Morae Cross is a resident of Woodruff, South Carolina, and is the mother of 3 children. She attended USC-Spartanburg and Converse College. Soror Morae is a member of Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church in Woodruff, the League of Women Voters of Spartanburg County, the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), the NAACP Branch #5550, the Get Out the Vote Coalition, and the Upstate Action Alliance. 

Soror Cross was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️ in Spring 1998. She is a Charter Member of the Rho Tau Undergraduate Chapter at USC-Upstate and is an active member of the Epsilon Beta Omega Graduate Chapter. She has served as the Chapter’s Connection Coordinator and is the current Philacter. She was Chairman of the Connection and Social Action Committee and lead of the Seniors and Random Acts of Kindness subcommittees. Currently, she is the Chairman of the DPGS Committee and Co-Chairman of the Connection and Social Action and Advocate for Social Justice Program Initiative Committee. Soror Morae received Silver Star recognition in 2023 and was presented with the Graduate Vertelle M. Middleton Visionary Award at the 2024 South Carolina AKA Day at the Capitol. She believes in the power of sisterhood and is dedicated to serving her chapter.
