With humility and grace, I welcome you to the official website of the Epsilon Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I am truly honored to serve as the President of this esteemed chapter, which boasts over 100 active graduate members and oversees the undergraduate chapter, Rho Tau, at the University of South Carolina Upstate. It is an absolute privilege to serve alongside dedicated members who exemplify the mission of our illustrious organization and uphold the vision of the South Atlantic Region under the T.U.N.E. Administration led by the Honorable Tiffany Moore Russell, Esq.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the first Greek-lettered organization established by and for college-educated African American women. Chartered on March 5, 1949, Epsilon Beta Omega Chapter has a rich history of unwavering service to mankind. We are committed to executing and elevating the international programs of service spearheaded by our International President and CEO, Mrs. Danette Anthony Reed. These programs amplify our legacy of excellence and ensure we continue to provide stellar service to all mankind.

Through the collective efforts of our members, we strive to implement impactful initiatives that transcend, unite, nurture, and empower (T.U.N.E.) our communities and college campuses. This approach allows us to make meaningful contributions while strengthening bonds within the communities we serve.

Visit Us

Chapter meetings are held the second Saturday of each month (except May, July and August) at 10:00 a.m. Business attire is required for all chapter meetings, unless otherwise noted. All visitors must be members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Appropriate membership documentation must be submitted prior to admittance.

SOROR OF THE YEAR: Melesia Heard

Soror Melesia Heard is married to Eugene Heard, and together they have two adult daughters, Jasmine and Jayla Heard. Soror Heard is a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC, where she is actively involved in the Sanctuary Choir, Youth Council, Women’s Ministry, Missionary Society, and Nursery Ministry. In addition to her professional and church services, she demonstrated a lifelong commitment to youth development. She has served as Bethlehem Baptist Church Girl Scout Troop Leader for Troop 4312 for over 10 years, mentoring and guiding young girls through leadership, service, and personal growth.

Soror Heard earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Benedict College, Columbia, SC, and her Master of Social Work from Howard University, Washington, DC, establishing a strong academic foundation for a career centered on advocacy, compassion, and compassion-driven leadership. She has dedicated 27 years of professional service to the Greenville County Department of Social Services, where her work focuses on protecting children, strengthening families, and supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Soror Heard exemplifies the true spirit of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, through a lifetime of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to uplifting others. Soror Heard has also demonstrated exceptional commitment to the sorority through her service. She is a proud member of the Epsilon Beta Omega Chapter, where her consistent dedication and quiet strength continue to inspire excellence as genuine sisterhood. Her civic and organizational involvement includes extensive involvement within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, where she has held multiple roles in the chapter, including parliamentarian, Anti- Tamiouchos, Anti-Pecunious Grammateus, and Graduate Advisor Committee member.

Soror Heard has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the sorority through her service with the Educational Advancement Foundation (EAF), where she served for eight years as a South Atlantic Region Ambassador for Cluster VIII.

A devoted Silver Star Soror, rendered more than 25 years of service, faithful to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and its enduring mission of service to all mankind. Within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Soror Heard is admired for her humility, dependability, and steadfast dedication to sisterhood. She consistently supports chapter initiatives with excellence, mentoring fellow Sorors with wisdom and grace, and leads through action rather than recognition.
